The DEVKIT44B Development Kit is a low cost development kit for learning how to use and program the PIC16F877A microcontroller from Microchip. The SBC board can also be assembled with any other 44 pin PIC chip. Emphasis has been put on keeping the cost as low as possible. This has been achieved by using the FreeHI-TECH C Compiler for PIC10/12/16 MCUs (Lite mode), and supplying the PIC16F877A programmed with a Free bootloader and required programming cables. This means that this development kit includes everything required for compiling the supplied demo programs and programming the PIC16F877A with the generated hex files.

The DEVKIT44B consists out of the SBC44B Single Board Computer with the DEV16T LCD daughter board plugged onto it. The SBC44B is assembled with a 20MHz crystal and a PIC16F877A CPU. The PIC16F877A has been programmed with the free bootloader from www.microchipc.com For further details on the SBC44B and DEV16T boards please refer to their respective datasheets which can be found on the CD supplied with the DEVKIT44B or downloaded from the links above.

The DEVKIT44B Development kit consists of:

• SBC44B Single Board Computer with 20MHz crystal and PIC16F877A. The PIC is programmed with the above mentioned bootloader.
• DEV16T LCD Daughter board with LEDs, Buzzer, Buttons, Headers for inputs/outputs and more.
• PT01T-ASM Prototype Daughter Board. Can be plugged into SBC44B in stead of DEV16T LCD Daughter board.
• CAB9FF6FT 6 Foot serial port cable for programming the SBC44B board. See DEVKIT44B Manual for details on programming.
• CD with all programs required for getting started, documentation and sample programs. The following are some of the programs included on the CD - Microchip MPLAB IDE, HI-TECH PICCLite Compiler, Bootloader.
